Japanese food is my favourite type of food! However, I can understand that if you’re not used to it, you might miss the flavours you can get back at home. I recently found this great little restaurant that offers Mexican food that’s fast-serving, tasty and reasonably priced.
OC Burrito is a Tex-Mex restaurant in the popular area of Kyoto with three vegan options on its menu. They serve tacos, burritos, and burrito bowls and is a brilliant place you can visit with a group of mixed diets.
Neighbouring the well-known Higashiyama Ward, it’s a great place to pop in on your way home, especially as they stay open later. Let me show you what we ordered!

The space
Located on floor B1 of SUINA Muromachi Mall, you’ll find OC Burrito amongst other eateries in the food court. You won’t miss it as you’ll be met by their neon yellow lights and the contrasting blue tiles. As well as bar seating, they have 5 or 6 tables that can fit four people maximum, so if your group is bigger, you’ll have to sit on different tables.
The menu
At OC Burrito, they have 5 items on the menu, 3 of which can be made vegan. Each item comes with chips (crisps for us Brits) and a drink that’s included in the price – just make sure no cheese or sour cream is used as they are not suitable.

Burrito Set
This was my first ever burrito and I loved how fat and filled it was! Inside there was lettuce, rice, beans, guacamole, and soy chunks just to name a few. It was packed, full of texture and really good. The salsa was tasty too!

Taco Set
With the tacos, you had the option to go for corn or flour tortillas and I decided to try corn wraps. These soft-shelled tacos were so fresh, filled with avocado, herbs, tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. It also came with a side of beans and rice as well as the same chips and sauce that comes with all the meals.
